Salut! J'ai ecouté il y a un livre de France de Shadowrun. Pardon mon francais mall; je suis d'Allemagne. Je prefere une reponse anglais, et je continuer à faire ecrire avec anglais. What is the name and the ISBN of that book? Is it still available or out-of-print? How much does it cost? Is it only available in french, or as well in english? Will parts of it be included into the new Wizkids-sourcebook "Shadows over Europe", and if yes, will this parts be enough to play seriously a campaign placed in France, especially Paris? By the way, can someone tell me on which point of the timeline it stands an d if it is recommendable? Merci beaucoup pour les responses à l'avance, et s'il vous plait ecrire anglais.

It should still be avalable (see the website of descartes for information) it exist only in french (fasa nor wizkids in fact had never knwn its contain until a few, (thanks namergon, one of the french writer of the french part) It's not "canon" or fluff. (it's more than a "trip of french attitude) But freelance writer of this part in the Up coming SOE promise that they kept the best part. To my opinion, keep waiting feb-march 2004 for the release of Soe, even if France will not more 15 pages of information Well, that's my opinion, if it may help. Guten Nacht, Herr Skyrock (are you aware that it's a :x french radio) Ps : you can present yourself Here if you want No matter for your french, please apologize me por my bad english  or german

Merci beaucoup pour les reponses vite :) Well, then I have to wait for the February when SoE will come(I'm all the time looking forward for that book... but don't look forward for the German part, Fanpro will bring in a summary of its own Germany-Sourcebook, which is quite a shit :x ) I've found it at Descartes, and it seems to have a tolerable price(about 25EUR). Now I play with the thought to buy it, especially to have more background when I'll start a campaign based in France. What is your opinion of that Descartes-book? Is it good, is it bad or something between? Why is it good or bad? Is the french well comprehensible for a foreigner with a few years French at school, or does it use much vulgar, familiar and seldom used words? No matter about your english, it's well comprehendible to me. I think your German is even much better than my French ;) (and now don't start to count the mistakes in the French parts of my posts...) [quote:413078ee99](are you aware that it's a french radio)[/quote:413078ee99] Je sais(ou je [u:413078ee99]me[/u:413078ee99] sais??) *smile* When I started with the Internet, i took that name because I could receive Skyrock, and in that time it has been a col radio. But the last few years it lost a lot of quality.

I'm afraid that if you don't liked the Germany SB, you won't like the French one. To resume, France is much more strange that the Tirs, with a VERY good matrix (wasn't touch by the 2029 crash), there are very powerfull druids, one (Great ?) Dragon, and so on.... Yes it's a bit much in my opinion. All the friends i know that buy the book at the time regret it now. Perhaps someone here has another opinion. And Welcome Skyrock :)

Wilkommen Skyrock. The french sourcebook is a shit. A very great shit. Don't buy it. It's a mistake. Cerbère, qui n'aime définitivement pas ce supplément. P.S. : your french is better than my german. And I learned it during 8 years. :D

By the way, I also seek for translations of typical SR-terms to bring more French flavour into the campaign. I'd like it if you would help me with some words: Shadowrunner: coureur/coureuse des ombres? Runner: coureur/coureuse? Sarari-Man: homme de sarari? Street Samurai: samurai de rue? Razorclaw(i'm not sure for the english term; its the more vulgar version of Street Samurai, in German "Messerklaue"): griffe de coteau? Rigger: ??? Decker: ??? Matrix: ??? ICE: ??? Elve: ??? Dwarf: ??? Orc: ??? Troll: ??? Norm: ???

The current France sourcebook by Descartes is filled with jingoism, probably more than the Germany sourcebook. France in this sourcebook is cooler on every topic : coller corps, cooler dragons, cooler magic, cooler army, cooler matrix that resisted to the Crash (don't ask how), and a cooler bad guy (friend with Damien Knight and Darke...), and sheesier plots (obvious munchkin crossover hints), and so on, and so on. The pictures are quite awful too, except the cover one. In SoE we tried to inspire from the good ideas of this sourcebook (yes, there ARE good idea inside the Descartes sourcebook, the authors didn'at have the time/resources to lay them down properly), and make an interesting and playable setting. About Germany in SoE, I think the chapter dedicated to it and the chapters covering things involving Germany (corporations, mobs, and so on) tried to minimize the defects of the German version book. I didn't read the Germany chapter, though, so I can't really say. I hope you'll enjoy SoE better than the Germany sourcebook. I think that it'll be better than the English version of the first Germany sourcebook, however.

[quote:560ec3bc23]What does this abbreviation mean if it's written out? [/quote:560ec3bc23] That's the problem, GLACE isn't an abreviation :? (or I don't know what abreviation that could be) it's just the translation of ICE. So I prefer using C.I (for Contre Intrusion). [quote:560ec3bc23]I look as well for translations of Gang and Gang-Member [/quote:560ec3bc23] Gang et Ganger

no, it IS a abrevation; I can't remember right now. Maybe I'll find it later.

That's right, [b:97ef3227c0]GLACE[/b:97ef3227c0] is the translation of [b:97ef3227c0]ICE[/b:97ef3227c0], but the mean is : Générateur de Logiciels Anti-intrusion par Contre-mesure Electronique. You can use too [b:97ef3227c0]CI[/b:97ef3227c0] for Contre-mesure d'Intrusion. Or [b:97ef3227c0]SCIE[/b:97ef3227c0] : Super Contre-mesure d'Intrusion Electronique. Shadowrun 2nd edition.

It sounds well what will come up about France with SoE 8) Now I hope I've got the money when it comes next year... and the old France SB I'll maybe buy just for collecting(and maybe some laughter, if it's really so bad... I'm rather curious how more munchkinism, jingoism and worldwide conspiracies than in ye old Germany SB can be included into one book ;) ). And don't forget the "Oi  " of all those visitors who see I'm reading such a thick French book - it makes seeming so educated ;) One last question: What's NDA? The french equivalent of the US basketball league? ;)
